Astrid Därr
Writer, geographer, adventurer
My stories and photos from travels around the world are published in various magazines, newspapers and online media.
As a freelance travel writer, tour guide and adventurer, I’m on the road traveling for several months a year. I’ve bagged peaks up to nearly 7,000 metres in the Andes, Himalayas and the Alps on foot and on skis and traveled to 30 countries in Africa, where I’ve spent several years in total exploring overland. In recent years, I’ve been road tripping across South America in my old Toyota Land Cruiser. As a single mom, my young son is my favorite travel buddy.
My reports and photos have been published in various English and German magazines and newspapers, both in print and online. In addition, I’ve published more than ten travel books (mainly about Morocco) with various publishers over the last 15 years.
My main focus area are
Adventure: Travel, camping, sustainable tourism
Outdoor Sports: Hiking, biking, mountaineering, kayaking, skiing, skimountaineering
Roadtrips & Overlanding: Europe, Africa and South America
Family: Travel, hiking and outdoor adventures with small kids
Diving, wildlife & conservation: worldwide

It is always a pleasure working with Astrid. She doesn’t shy away from anything, works reliably and delivers good stories on time. And that´s been the case for many years.
